How can I explain to my parents that I really do need a cellphone?

When I really wanted a car, I made a list of all the reasons it would be a good idea I get good grades, I dont party or do drugs like other kids etc, how I would help pay for it helping out etc, why i wanted it etc. It really helps to convince your parents that you are not just whining and youve thought it through and they will sit down and at least give you a discussion dont get angry and whiny but rationally explain. Address their concerns too if its money, think of ways to compromise, if its that u just want it for fun to talk to friends tell them of the safety and security reasons that they can reach you anytime anywhere, tell them you dont need a expensive plan, or can even get prepaid so you wont use it just to text message friends all day. Compromise and seriously discuss it it almost always works.
